The Bra-See-Ay

The Bra-See-Ay is the name of my weekly blog. It is a play on the word brassiere. Bras and panties take on a key role in my novel, so it all comes back to that.

This blog is a place to entertain all kinds of silliness and to have fun. Learn something new, think outside the box, participate in contests, and get to know more about me, T.J. Corman.

Getting to know me...let's have some fun!

I'm T.J. Corman, author of, To You, From Me. This is my first blog post EVER. I've not written a blog or read a blog. You might say I'm a blog virgin, but I can already see that I'm going to like blogging. You are going to get to know me, and we are going to have some fun together.

A few years ago, I found myself facing a difficult life situation. I had a hard time getting through the experience, and it weighed on me heavily. You could say that I was depressed, but it felt more like a full-body collapse – it was complete exhaustion of the body and mind. I was tired right down to my bones.

One of my advisors at the time recommended to me that the only thing I had to do to get through this hard time was, have fun. Fun needed to be my singular focus. It sounded so simplistic that I couldn’t believe my ears. However, it was interesting that hearing her say those words permitted me to let go and do just as she suggested. Have fun. How hard could that be?

For starters, I had to make some changes to my circumstances. After being in the workforce for many years, I decided to retire. Retiring was a terrifying decision to make, but I knew it would be good for me physically and emotionally. So, I took the plunge and retired.

You can imagine the feeling of freedom that came over me was monumental after a bit of time spent mourning the completion of my career and adjusting to my new lifestyle. Rolling over and looking at the clock while registering that my work friends are at work, and I, am still in bed is always a thrill that starts my day. I catch myself doing the happy dance in my kitchen in the morning while slurping down buckets of coffee. Sometimes I lounge in my pj’s until ridiculously late times of the day. Often only minutes before my husband gets home from work, I will quickly change, brush my teeth and comb my hair! This is an indulgence that I’m only now starting to wean myself off.

Oh, yes – I am going to have some fun.

Fun is good. I like fun. I am fun. Bring on the fun. In these days of social unrest and fear, it can be hard to find joy or put it at the forefront of things you should do. I’m working on that every day. Every day, I get up and ask myself what am I going to do for fun today.

I have a long list. I’m currently doing one of the things I find fun – writing. I know it’s not for everyone, but it goes hand-in-hand with reading, and I like that too. Hmm – an author who enjoys reading and writing – imagine that. I also golf. I play with my dog – she’s the cutest little love bug ever. I keep in touch with my friends. And, as many newly retired people do, I learned how to play pickleball, and I took a socially distanced pottery class with my friendship bubble – both fun. The fun doesn’t have to be complicated. It just needs to be something that brings a smile to your face.

I’m continuing to have fun, create fun, experience fun – you get the idea. As I mentioned, this blog is something new for me and one way I plan to have fun. I’ll get to know you, and you’ll get to know me. So, if you are reading this, and I know you are or you wouldn’t be smiling, let me know how you have fun. What do you do? As that old saying goes, “Let’s put the fun back into dysfunctional”!

That's it for now. Have yourself the best day. I'll speak to you again tomorrow.
